An artisan income generation project for the caregivers of Best Family Rwanda, creating a path forward out of dependence and into a sustainable, confident, and bright future.
ITARA’s artisans are based in a village in the northern sector of Kinyinya, Rwanda. This village was established by the Rwandan government for widows of the Rwandan genocide of 1994 where approximately one million citizens were killed. Prior to ITARA, the women had no source of income and would go several days without food for themselves and their families. After spending over a year learning the trade of sewing, the artisans now have a path forward out of dependence and into a sustainable, confident, and bright future. 100% of all proceeds go directly to the families of ITARA.
