About Nyarugunga
Nyarugunga is located to the east in Kicukiro district within the capital city of Rwanda. Nyarugunga is mostly comprised of veterans and genocide survivors. Many parents or caregivers have small businesses, are day laborers,, cultivators, or builders. Most of these occupations have low incomes, usually $1 to $2 per day. Many of the caregivers in our program did not go to school, or have very little education, so for their children to go to school, it is a great honor and something that could truly change the family tree.
